Prevention & Wellness
At Meridian, we understand what it takes to raise children and keep them healthy and safe.
With leaders in Child and Family Advocacy (including child abuse prevention) at the local, state, and national levels, we support our communities by offering free programs for parents and children to keep them educated about safety, nutrition, fitness, and positive thinking.
Doctor Bernard is our own furry celebrity who, along with his Pawsitive Action Pals Hopscotch and Picatso, is making his way to schools and community events across Monmouth and Ocean counties. Through guest appearances at events, educational programs, Web site activities, and fun written handouts about nutrition and safety, children (ages 3 to 10) learn to live by Doctor Bernard's motto of "Treat Yourself Right!" Sign up to get your free membership card and introductory kit or visit us on Facebook. Doctor Bernard also visits children in the hospital and has his own special van that can be seen out at community events.
Christie Rampone, Captain of the U.S. soccer team , three-time Olympic medalist, Jersey Shore native, and most importantly a mother, also joins the K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital team at many of our events as a champion of positive attitude, hard work, and always striving to be the best.
You and your children may also join us at any of our many health classes held throughout the year, including:
- Programs on asthma, diabetes, autism, digestive disease, epilepsy, and other chronic conditions.
- Injury prevention sessions offered by experts from Jersey Shore Regional Trauma Center, pediatric intensive care unit, and emergency medical teams, where parents and children can learn about helmet and driving safety, CPR, and much more.
