Health

All students will have a complete physical examination including blood testing and urine drug screen by the medical center Occupational Health Department before the start of classes and throughout the program.

Housing

Students are responsible for their own housing. Apartment complexes are located near the medical center, and assistance in finding housing is readily available from the FMC-SMLS office.

Insurance

Liability insurance is provided by Meridian Health. Students are responsible for their own health insurance.

Scholarship Opportunities

Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships offered by the School as a means of deferring program costs.

Employment Opportunities

Students are afforded opportunities to work in various lab departments to supplement their income. The number of hours is monitored by Program Officials, and is allowed as long as adequate grades are maintained.

Library Facilities

The FMC-SMLS maintains its own library in the Laboratory. Students also have 24 hour access to the Booker Health Science library.

Meals

The Jersey Shore University Medical Center team members' cafeteria which serves an extensive and varied menu is available to the students at no cost through the use of meal cards. The Jersey Shore Grille presents another option. Students may also bring in their meals. The laboratory lounge is equipped with a refrigerator and microwave oven.

Parking

Parking is available in the team members' parking lot located on the premises at no cost. A valid ID sticker is required.

Recreation

Students may participate in the activities sponsored by the team members' Activities Committee. These include bus trips to Broadway shows, shopping outlets, ski resorts, and sporting events.

Student Counseling

The FMC-SMLS offers a comprehensive support and guidance program to all students. The confidential Meridian Health Employee Assistance Program is available should further counseling be required. The affiliated colleges / universities and the FMC-SMLS office are accessible by appointment for additional academic advisement if necessary.
