BSN 2020: Aspire to Learn, Aspire to Lead

Why is it important to achieve your BSN?

As a Registered Nurse, you are the force and voice behind a patient’s hospital experience.  You are a professional that understands the achievement of positive outcomes requires giving the best in patient care. The ability to drive successful patient outcomes requires dedication and life-long learning.  Your role requires critical thinking skills, professional awareness and inter-professional collaboration.

The work of the RN has become more and more complex. The Institute of Medicine has stated that the challenges faced by nurses today are not the same as those in past years.  An increasingly diverse population to care for and a healthcare environment that is rapidly evolving to meet the population’s needs are just some of the challenges.  New skills and competencies are needed to provide the safe, effective, holistic care nurses want to provide.  Obtaining a BSN is a path to being able to provide nursing care that encompasses all the ideals nursing has earned a reputation for in the 21st century.

Meridian is committed to the BSN 2020 initiative and in supporting RNs in their pursuit of this goal, recognizing the barriers and challenges that exist for the individual nurse.  We invite you to explore the possibilities available at Meridian to guide you to a BSN degree.
