Jersey Shore University Medical Center also participates in an integrated residency in General Surgery and an Infectious Disease fellowship sponsored by the UMDNJ—Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, bringing the total complement of house staff to 85. Jersey Shore University Medical Center participates in the National Resident Matching Program and the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program.

Jersey Shore's residency programs enjoy a reputation for close working relations with faculty and in-depth preparation for boards. Emphasis is placed on the role of the resident as a mentor and teacher of medical students, and on creating an optimal environment for learning. Scholarship and clinical investigation are encouraged, and the faculty and house staff enjoy the support of a full-time biostatistician.

Jersey Shore offers a competitive salary, free meals, uniforms, laundry service, free parking, malpractice insurance and, exclusively for our first year residents, a housing subsidy of $350 a month. Hospitalization, major medical, dental, life, and disability insurance are provided to the resident and his/her immediate family at minimal charge. Liability insurance is provided at no cost. House Staff are entitled to four weeks of vacation annually. Jersey Shore also provides a tax-sheltered savings plan, a credit union, and for nominal cost, on-site child care and a wellness program with a fully equipped fitness center. A Clinical Scholars Program provides for loan reimbursement of up to $30,000 to qualified medical school graduates who complete categorical residencies in Medicine and Pediatrics.
