Read What Others Say about Our Program
“My transition as a nursing student to a staff nurse has been very positive. I have no regrets for this change in career. Initially I had a fear in my mind because of the amount of work required, but JSUMC has taken away the fear. The education program has helped me a great deal. I’m happy that Meridian has comprehensive education such as this to help orient new nurses. Meridian takes education very seriously and I’m happy that I’ve been given the opportunity to be a part of it.”
“The transition from nursing student to staff nurse has been made very smooth by my wonderful preceptor, John. He is very knowledgeable as well as compassionate to his patient. He has shown me the best ways to determine what is in the patient’s best interest and how to get it for them.”
“Meridian has helped make the transition from nursing student to staff nurse as smooth as it can be. There was more support from co-workers than I could have imagined as far as morale and educational support. Everyday has been challenging and a great learning experience – and I feel supported by fellow employees each day.”
“I was pretty well prepared for what to expect. My biggest hurdle at this point is time management and remembering all of the little things throughout the day that I have to do. My preceptor has been very supportive during my “transition” period.”
“The transition has moved along smoothly. It is more paper work, being a nurse, than I ever expected, which leaves little time to spend on the patient. The other nurses and staff on my floor have been exceptionally welcoming and helpful. I feel comfortable asking questions at anytime which makes the transition go that much smoother.”
“My transition from nursing student to staff nurse has been smooth so far. It has pretty much been exactly what I had imagined, except everyone is nicer and more helpful than I thought they would be. Meridian has been very supportive on a whole and has made my transition as painless as possible.”
“It has been challenging but in a good way. The orientation process really helped. There is a huge difference between being a nursing student and a staff nurse. The slow introduction into the staff nurse role really helps. My preceptor is very important in my success as a staff nurse. Even now, off orientation, I still have questions and its good to know these preceptors will be always forever there to answer them. For me, time management is key as a staff nurse.”
“From the perspective of patient care, I feel that it is everything I hoped for in that you really feel as a nurse that you’re able to provide a service to the patients that they need. You fill a gap in healthcare in that so few people are able to pay attention to patients.”
“The transition from student nurse to staff nurse at JSUMC has been quite a roller coaster, not that this was unexpected. I tried to prepare myself both emotionally and physically for my new profession but I don’t think you can ever prepare yourself fully. First of all, I would like to say thank you for all you have done for me during my first 3 months as a nurse. The time I was able to spend with all of my classmates and being able to hear that other new nurses were going through the same situations, feelings and emotions that I was dealing with helped me get through. I also want to thank you for being there for all of us to tell us stories of your experiences and just being there for us to confide in. It made a world of difference.”
“Eight months have passed since I have walked thru the door as a new nurse. I have to say it has gotten much better but the job is still a roller coaster but I think that is just how nursing is. Just took my chemotherapy certification course so I will be embarking on the next step of my career. I just take my job day by day and pray that I do the best for my patients. I am lucky that I am where I am – My floor has wonderful people. I have 2 assistant nurse managers that I respect both as managers and as friends. I can’t say enough good things about them. I hope Meridian knows how lucky they are to have them. They are 2 of the most supportive and encouraging people that I had ever worked with.”
“My co-workers are a huge gift. I could not have asked for a better group of co-workers. They are always there for me whenever I need them. I don’t know if I would have made it through without all of them.”
“I have to say I have been blessed with my experience at Meridian.”
“I just feel that I couldn’t have started my nursing career with a better bunch of people and the experience that I am receiving. Thanks”
