Mary Lynn Breslin, RN, BSN, OCN, Clinical Research Coordinator for Oncology from Ocean Medical Center

“Our profession…our mission, is to empower individuals to take better care of themselves,” says Mary Lynn Breslin, RN, BSN, OCN. Whether she’s presenting a program about cancer prevention to the local Elks Club, or staffing an information table at a senior adult community’s health fair, Mary Lynn is passionate about staying abreast of the latest health issues, and sharing her knowledge with the community so they have the tools they need to stay healthy.

Mary Lynn enjoys building trusting relationships with those individuals and organizations that she comes in frequent contact with in the course of her work as Clinical Research Coordinator for Oncology at Ocean Medical Center. She addresses local service organizations and senior communities about cancer prevention.

Prior to her current role in the hospital’s Oncology department, Mary Lynn managed the Breast Care Center and coordinated several outreach projects such as “Kites Against Cancer” and a Mammography Day for Lions Head South, a senior adult community in Brick.

For her efforts, Mary Lynn has been the recipient of the Elizabeth Kellogg Award, the Sally Hetzler Nursing Scholarship Award, and several Galaxy awards (Meridian’s team member recognition program).

She began her career at Meridian in 1990 as a nurse’s aide on the Oncology Unit at the former Point Pleasant Hospital. Mary Lynn is a graduate of the former Ann May School of Nursing and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Monmouth University. She is also certified in oncology nursing and is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society.

“For me, there’s nothing better than being out in the community,” says Mary Lynn. “It’s so important to advocate for early detection, regular exams and getting the word out to men and women about cancer awareness.”
