Maria Rivas, Cashier

Fourteen years ago, one of Maria’s friends referred her for a job at Ocean Medical Center. Although the years have gone by quickly for the Food Services cashier, the sense of teamwork and friendship Maria has with her fellow team members remains as strong as ever.

“I love the people I work with, and we have a great boss,” Maria notes. “Whenever you need help, there’s always someone you can count on.”

Two years ago, Maria received a Galaxy Award (part of Meridian’s Team Member Recognition Program) for her quick action to help save the cafeteria from flood damage caused by a leak. The program honors those who exhibit outstanding service above and beyond their day-to-day responsibilities.

A devoted music lover, Maria enjoys attending concerts and shows. She especially likes listening to latino music, as well as hip hop, oldies and disco.
