Total Rewards

At Meridian, we recognize that everyone's needs are different and we embrace those differences by offering benefits and plans to meet your individual lifestyle. That's what Meridian's Flexible Benefit's Program is all about - providing you with the flexibility to choose the benefits you and your family really need.

Some of the important benefits are:

  • Dental
  • Long-Term Disability
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Life Insurance
  • Long-Term Care
  • Medical
  • Prescription Drug Coverage
  • Vision
  • Wellness Programs

In any partnership, balance is important, so we offer a growing selection of voluntary benefits, special services and other perquisites aimed at assisting you in balancing work and home life, pursuing personal goals, and enhancing your satisfaction on the job as well as off.

Comprehensive Benefits

Health & Well-Being: Looking Out for You and Your Family
Our Partnership "Total Rewards" Program of benefits offers a comprehensive selection of health, welfare, and retirement programs. We cover the entire cost of core benefits — Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and Long Term Disability — and contribute significantly to the costs of medical/prescription, dental, and vision care as well as long-term care and optional additional life and Long Term Disability. Team members can put aside pre-tax dollars from their biweekly pay up to the federal limits in a Health Care Flexible Spending Account and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account to pay for eligible related expenses.

Team members can select from among three health care/prescription plans, including a Health Savings Account plan, four dental plans and one vision care plan for coverage for themselves and immediate family. In addition, all team members are automatically eligible for discounted vision care through certain ophthalmologists affiliated with Meridian Health. (No enrollment is needed.) A long-term care plan, which helps pay for home care and/or facility care for the team member or family member, is also offered.

Retirement Benefits: Helping You Plan for the Future
The Partnership "Total Rewards" Program includes a generous retirement program with two parts: Cash Balance Pension Plan with a fixed rate of contribution and interest accrual, and a 403(b) Savings Plan, a tax-sheltered annuity (similar to a 401(k) plan in private business), which includes an automatic employer match for eligible team members.

Participation in the Cash Balance Pension Plan is automatic for eligible team members, and vesting occurs after 5 years. Participation in the 403(b) Savings Plan is optional, and vesting is immediate. We periodically offer professionally run retirement financial planning seminars at no charge to team members to help you become an active driver of your financial future and make the most of the savings options available to you.

Time Away From Work
Team members in the Meridian Hospitals Corporation Division accrue up to 20, 25, or 30 paid time off (PTO) days annually to used for vacation, personal time, and short term illness/disability, and up to seven (7) extended sick leave (ESL) days each year to be used for medical-related absences that exceed a certain number of consecutive work days. We provide up to six (6) paid legal holidays a year, depending on the team member's job status, as well as paid time off for jury duty, military duty, or a death in the family.

Professional Development & Opportunities to Advance
Meridian is committed to team members' professional and personal development through a number of course offerings provided by Organizational Effectiveness/Team Meridian University. Tuition reimbursement/advance is offered as a primary way for staff to pursue educational opportunities related to their work. And one of the many advantages of being a large and growing system is the wide-ranging opportunities for internal advancement: Multiple avenues exist for change and promotion that don't require you to leave the system and consequently give up your health and welfare coverage and other accrued benefits. Team members are encouraged to apply for job openings within the Meridian system when their skills and experience are appropriate.

Recognition for Personal Contributions
Meridian Health actively maintains an environment that recognizes and rewards team members in meaningful ways for the positive contributions they make to the success of our system. Our systemwide Galaxy Program recognizes excellence among team members, physicians and volunteers at all levels of our organization through acknowledgements such as personal letters, recognition ceremonies, and gifts. Meridian Health also recognizes staff for their years of service dedicated to supporting our mission, vision, and values through annual celebratory dinner-dances.
