RIVERVIEW'S MEDICAL LIBRARY OPEN TO PUBLIC
Medical Center provides free resource to help community research medical conditions
Red Bank, NJ - When you or a loved one is diagnosed with a disease or suffers an injury, it's natural to want to learn as much as possible about the condition. To help navigate the maze of information that is available, Riverview Medical Center offers a free service to provide community members with access to its medical library. The John B. Movelle, M.D. Medical Library at Riverview Medical Center offers resources in print and electronic formats. These resources are available to meet the information, education and research needs of patients and their families, as well as the general public. "People usually only think of the medical center as a place to get care," says librarian Amy Edwards, MLIS, coordinator of library services at Riverview. "We're also here to provide information that can help individuals and families better understand medical conditions. With the library conveniently located within the medical center, families have resources close at hand while they are visiting with a loved one or coming for treatment." The library also accommodates phone and email requests for information for anyone who may not be able to get to the library. The library's collection includes over 2,300 books and 135 journals in print. These cover a wide range of topics, including consumer health information. The library also provides access to approximately 560 full-text electronic journals and over 120 full-text electronic books via a range of databases and internet sites. Edwards also ads that the library is available for all community members, including students, educators, and other health care professionals. The library is open to the public Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Personal library assistance is available Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located on the first floor of the Marshall Pavilion at Riverview Medical Center. For more information or to speak with the librarian, call (732) 530-2275 or email RMCLibrary@meridianhealth.com.
