RIDE FOR RIVERVIEW A GREAT SUCCESS

Event brings total raised for the Booker Cancer Center at Riverview Medical Center to more than $650,000

Red Bank, NJ - The crowd couldn?t hold back its enthusiasm and excitement as rider Laura Chapot won the Stillwell-Hansen Grand Prix during the main event of the 112th Monmouth County Horse Show and "Ride for Riverview" on August 26. A resident of Neshanic Station, NJ, Chapot reclaimed the title that she had earned in 2005. The event featured 32 competitors from throughout the nation, of which several were U.S. Olympians.

Ride for Riverview is a fundraising event which benefits the Jane H. and John Marshall Booker Cancer Center at Riverview Medical Center and is held in conjunction with one of the oldest continuous equestrian events in the nation, the Monmouth County Horse Show. The Ride for Riverview Committee, chaired by Carol Stillwell of Holmdel, has raised more than $650,000 for the Booker Cancer Center since its inception in 1998.

"When my father experienced a fight with cancer, I vowed to do something in my own community to give back," says Carol Stillwell. "I was so impressed with the incredible cancer resources at Riverview Medical Center, and I saw an opportunity to blend my desire to help with my love of animals."

As an avid rider, Stillwell reached out to people involved with the Monmouth County Horse Show. From there, the Ride for Riverview was born. "I am blessed to work with a fantastic committee who has embraced the cancer center and seen the good work that is done there," notes Stillwell. "I truly appreciate the Monmouth County Horse Show for allowing us to use their venue to raise money solely for the Booker Cancer Center at Riverview. It's a testament to the team effort."

The annual event took place over five days (August 22 - 26, 2007) at East Freehold Park in Freehold, New Jersey. In addition to the action in the rings, attendees browsed the shopping area for items such as handcrafted jewelry and stylish equestrian wear and supported the cause by participating in a silent auction. As a special part of the activities, families filled the park for Saturday's "Family Day" event, which offered pony rides, a petting zoo, as well as many other family oriented activities at the Horse Show. The entire five-day event was free to the community.
