LOCAL NURSE'S ASSISTANT RECEIVES AWARD
Madeline Nelson, a nurse's assistant at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Red Bank, receives honor.
Red Bank, NJ - Madeline Nelson, a certified nurse's assistant (CNA) at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Red Bank, has been recognized by the Health Care Association of New Jersey and was awarded the Nurse Aide of the Year for her outstanding contributions in support of the nursing profession and to the field of health care. Madeline was nominated by the administration of the facility. Madeline has been working at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Red Bank for almost twenty years and was instrumental in developing the Resident Care Coordinator Program which oversees the CNA's care of the Center's residents. She also helped to develop the "Walk and Dine" initiative which encourages residents to walk to the dining area rather than use their wheel chairs. "Madeline truly is an asset to not only Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, but to the entire nursing profession," says Dimitry Ruchaevsky, assistant administrator of Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Red Bank. She has been helping and caring for people her entire life and always goes out of her way to accommodate residents. She even accompanies residents to the doctor's office for visits when their relatives can not make it. She is truly committed to her patients and her profession." "I am so grateful to receive this award. I feel it is a great testament not only for me, but to nursing at Meridian as a whole. I am proud to work with great professionals who really care about the residents they work with," said Madeline. In addition to nursing, Madeline volunteers with the Salvation Army and is active in the Second Baptist Church. She also has two daughters and resides in Long Branch. Within the next month, Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Red Bank will move to a brand new facility in Shrewsbury.
