Meridian Health Institute for Evidence-Based Care
National mandates for care processes in pneumonia, congestive heart failure, and myocardial infarction are now well-known and ingrained into much of our practice world, yet the use of evidence-based care outside these mandates lags behind. The Knowledge in Motion: Interdisciplinary Evidence-Based Care conference addressed the importance of the generation and use of new knowledge, and answered these important questions: What does an evidence appraisal of the literature entail? How can information technology build a bridge between evidence and practice? What is the value of a meta-analysis? How can we best implement critical research findings?
The conference, held December 3 & 4, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, New Jersey, was designed for a multidisciplinary audience seeking to increase their knowledge and skill in evidence development, review, and use. The joint sessions discussed the culture of inquiry needed to embrace evidence-based care, the progress and future of information technology's contribution to evidence-based care, and the science of translation.
