Pastor Aaron Gibson, Ocean Medical Center

Aaron Gibson, 54, of Long Branch, faced a daunting health challenge that might have ended his career. As pastor of the Second Baptist Church, which boasts over 700 members, he knows people are counting on him to be available to do his work. “I was having constant headaches,” remembers Pastor Gibson. “Then I developed numbness in my lips and my right hand. That’s when I knew I needed to see my doctor. After one look at the MRI, my doctor told me I had to be admitted to a hospital right away.”
Two of the vertebrae in Pastor Gibson’s neck were pressing against his spinal
chord. Doctors recommended a procedure to strengthen the vertebrae by inserting three titanium disks between vertebrae at the base of his neck. Neurosurgeon David A. Yazdan, M.D., of Ocean Medical Center, performed the surgical procedure.
“The most amazing part of the whole experience was how well I was treated at Ocean Medical Center,” says Pastor Gibson. “I was treated with the utmost respect and given the highest quality of care, not because of any title but because I was a human being in need of assistance. I was truly impressed with the competence, confidence,
and friendliness of the people I met.
”Pastor Gibson is recovering well from this experience. He has resumed his full duties for Sunday services and all of his pastoral responsibilities throughout the week. “I was very impressed with the service I received,” recalls Pastor Gibson. “From the initial consultation to the final rehabilitation, the care I have received has been first rate all the way.”
