On-the Job Injury and Illness Treatment
High Quality Care
Meridian Occupational Health specializes in providing high quality medical care and rehabilitation for work-related injuries and illnesses.
A Focus on Prevention
Our treatment philosophy is prompt quality care recognizing the best interest of the patient, employer, and payment provider.
Timely Service
Injuries are triaged, and most cases are seen on the same day of injury. In addition to providing high quality care, we also recognize your need to maintain productivity, so we are sensitive to the amount of time your employees are away for medical appointments. We monitor and audit admission and discharge times. And we strive for treatment times of one hour or less for initial injuries and 30 minutes or less for follow-up visits.
Early Return to Work
Rapid progression is critical to successful treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses. Occupational Health uses a combination of modified duty, appropriately scheduled follow-up exams, orthopedics referrals, and aggressive physical therapy (when needed), to assist in treatment and accelerate case closure.
Rapid Progress
Follow-up appointments are used to assess patient progress, establish consistent expectations for both the patient and employer, and to facilitate modified duty restrictions.
Rehabilitation
We provide a proactive approach to physical therapy. Working in conjunction with the physician and other involved parties such as case managers, the therapist communicates the patient's progress after each follow-up visit. Most importantly, the physical therapist is trained to objectively quantify the functional capabilities of the worker and apply them to decisions regarding returning to work and transitional duty.
Modified Duty Plans
Modified duty is vital in improving productivity and reducing lost time claims. It also may accelerate the healing process and expedite case closure. Therefore, we recommend that patients return to work for temporary modified duty whenever possible. Our physicians assess, document, and communicate the injured employee's diagnosis, prognosis, and duty restrictions to the employer and other appropriate parties.
Discharge Instruction Reports
An individual employee treatment plan is provided at the end of every visit. These reports enable monitoring the return-to-work process, maximizing employer-physician communication and case-by-case accountability.
Physical Therapy
The goals of our physical therapy program are to prevent and treat industrial injuries. Our therapists and doctors realize that each employee is a vital resource, and that full cooperation is needed to return to work in full capacity as quickly as possible. Working in conjunction with our physicians and clients, our physical therapists expedite the return-to-work process. Aggressive therapy focuses on alleviating patients' symptoms and educating them on preventing injuries in the future. We also emphasize to employees that they're personally accountable for their own recovery, future safety, and medical improvement.
Job Site Analysis
A Job Site Analysis can be useful in understanding the physical demands required in the work environment to perform essential job functions. Results can be used to help redesign a job setting to prevent injury.
