Children Learn Value Of Giving To Others At Ocean Medical Center
Food Bank Benefits from Staff, Family GenerosityChildren from the Childhood Education Center at Ocean Medical Center have been learning about sharing with others and recently gave not just gifts, but a special holiday performance as well. Hospital visitors, patients, family members and team members were treated to the 16th annual "Pow Wow" Thanksgiving performance by the children in the medical center's atrium, which was also tied into a food drive.
Following the performance, hundreds of food items were donated to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County. Food was donated by team members from Ocean Medical Center and Shore Rehabilitation Institute, as well as donations from the children and families of the Childhood Education Center.
Eileen Conroy, kindergarten teacher at the Center, says, "The children have been learning about families in need, the value of sharing and donating, and appreciating how much we have. It was a wonderful lesson to tie into our annual Thanksgiving performance."
The food donations were presented to Barbara Scholz of the Food Bank by Peter Daniels, president of Ocean Medical Center, and Sandy Clemento, executive director of Shore Rehabilitation Institute, which is located within the medical center.
