Annual Business Leader Fundraising Event Hugely Successful
18th Annual Health Care Perspectives luncheon raised over $56,000 to benefit Meridian Health not-for-profit hospitals and programsDespite tough economic times for not-for-profits, Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations' 18th Annual Healthcare Perspectives Luncheon held on May 8, at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch raised over $56,000.
With 365 local business leaders in attendance, the event benefited Meridian's not-for-profit hospitals and services, which include Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital in Neptune, Ocean Medical Center in Brick, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank and Meridian Partner Companies located throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties. This educational forum is held each year in order to enable local business leaders to learn about health care issues that have an impact on their companies and communities.
This year's keynote speaker, Patricia Andriolo-Bull, Director of Commonwealth Choice, discussed the concept of providing universal healthcare for New Jersey residents. The presentation was particularly well-timed due to the difficult economic and political climate our country is currently facing.
Meridian is the area's leading not-for-profit health care provider, offers the region's only trauma center and heart surgery program, the region's first children's hospital, and last year provided over $27 million in uncompensated charity health care, and over $88 million in community benefit initiatives for Monmouth and Ocean counties.
