Jersey Shore University Medical Center Hosts Successful Open Heart Invitational
Annual golf tournament raised over $45,000 for cardiac surgery programsThe Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation hosted its 20th Annual Open Heart Invitational on Tuesday, October 13 at Metedeconk National Golf Course in Jackson. The outing was a major success, raising over $45,000 with over 140 golfers participating.
The invitational benefits cardiac surgery programs at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, the only hospital in Monmouth and Ocean counties licensed to perform open heart surgery. One of the most respected programs in New Jersey, the Jersey Shore Cardiac Surgery Program completes over 850 heart surgeries a year.
This year's event was chaired by, Norman V. Buttaci, former Senior Vice President of TD Bank. Carol Stillwell of Stillwell-Hansen was the day's Tournament Sponsor with TD Bank as the Tournament Benefactor. Golfers enjoyed a great day of golf followed by a cocktail reception and awards ceremony. Since 1989, through the support of both local businesses and communities, the Open Heart Invitational has been raising significant funds for Jersey Shore's cardiac surgery programs.
