Highly respected obstetrician honored by Ocean Township Mayor as both physician leader and dedicated community member

Carl Marchetti, M.D., has had a career marked by commitment to both his patients and his community. Recently, this commitment was recognized when he was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by William Larkin, Mayor of Ocean Township, at the Township of Ocean Inaugural Mayor's Charity Ball.

"It's extremely humbling to be acknowledged by the people you live with in your day to day life," says Dr. Marchetti. "This award is very dear to me as it comes from such a personal and warm place. I'm truly honored."

"As a long-time resident of Ocean Township, Dr. Marchetti has achieved such significance in the medical field and in turn, has given so much back to our community," says William Larkin, Mayor of Ocean Township. "It was just natural that he receive this award as our way of thanking him for all he has done."

Dr. Marchetti joined the medical staff at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in 1966, and in 1981 was the first physician to join the hospital administration. He was named vice president of medical affairs in 1982, the first physician in New Jersey to be appointed to such a position, and remained in this role for the next 25 years. While retired from this role, Dr. Marchetti continues his work with Meridian on a part-time basis developing subspecialty physician practices throughout the area as president of Meridian Practice Institute. For the past 38 years he has lived in Ocean Township with his wife Janice and continuously demonstrates his dedication to his community every day.

"Dr. Marchetti is not only a passionate leader in his field, but also a true testament to generosity in his community," says John K. Lloyd, FACHE, president of Meridian Health. "His dedication is truly an inspiration to all of us."
