Ocean Medical Center Nurse Receives State's Top Nursing Recognition

Barnegat Resident Receives Governor's Nursing Merit Award

Joan Harvey, R.N., MSN, CCRN, from Barnegat, has received the Governor's Nursing Merit Award. As a clinical nurse specialist at Ocean Medical Center, she was selected as the winner in the category of Nurse Educator. Ocean Medical Center nurses have received this prestigious award six of the past seven years.

Department of Health and Senior Services Commissioner Heather Howard presented the award to ten recipients, who were selected from among the over 109,000 licensed state nurses practicing in areas of patient care, nurse education, nursing research, administration, management, and community health.

Harvey was one of two nurses from Meridian Health who receive the Governor's Award. Joining her was Kristine Rovell, R.N., MSN, C, nurse manager at Riverview Medical Center who received the award in the category of nurse manager. For the 14th consecutive year, Meridian Health nurses have been recognized for their excellence in nursing. The ceremony was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Princeton.

"Once again, we are proud to be celebrating the recognition of two of our extraordinary nurses," says John K. Lloyd, president of Meridian Health. "Joan and Kristine represent the consistent quality patient care that our nursing team provides. Their accomplishments and excellence are truly inspirational for their fellow nurses and team members."

Since 1989, the Governor honors nurses who demonstrate excellence in nursing, recognizing the vital contribution of the nursing profession.
