Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations Host Successful Cancer Center Fund Raiser
2010 event co-chaired by Dr. Kenneth and Ann Marie Nahum and Philip and Marilyn Perricone raised in excess of $190,000 benefiting the Cancer Center at Jersey Shore University Medical CenterThe 13th annual Sweetheart Ball, benefiting the Cancer Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, was held on February 20, at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale. This record-breaking evening included both live and silent auctions, music, and a jewelry boutique, and raised over $190,000 with over 360 supporters in attendance.
The event benefits the Cancer Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center with the 2010 funds going specifically toward the renovation of the family lounge in the oncology inpatient unit. The lounge will feature computer stations for guests to research treatment information, stay connected with friends and relatives, and will also include a kids' corner with games and activities, a learning center, and television. In addition, a private room will be fashioned to serve as a respite for patients, as well as host family meetings with physicians and other oncology team members.
The event was chaired by Dr. Kenneth and Ann Marie Nahum of Colts Neck and Philip and Marilyn Perricone of Wall, and honored Carol Stillwell of Stillwell-Hansen, Inc. for her generous contributions to the hospital. Stillwell was presented with the William C. Black Award of Hope.
