Nationally Recognized Physiatrist now practicing at Shore Rehabilitation Institute
Heikki Uustal, M.D., currently practicing at state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility in BrickShore Rehabilitation Institute, located in Brick, is excited to welcome Heikki Uustal, M.D. Dr. Uustal received his medical degree from the University of Vermont and has been board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1988. In his role at Shore Rehabilitation Institute, Dr. Uustal's primary focus is on prosthetics and orthotics.
Nationally recognized in his field, Dr. Uustal joined Shore Rehabilitation Institute from Meridian Health partner, JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, where he currently serves as attending physiatrist and director of the Prosthetics and Orthotics team.
"Dr. Uustal has over 20 years of expertise in Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine and has been a tremendous asset to the entire team at Shore Rehabilitation Institute," says Allen Khademi, M.D., medical director of Shore Rehabilitation Institute. "His profound experience and knowledge in prosthetic and orthotic devices will ensure our patients continue to receive the best rehabilitative care possible."
Practicing along side Dr. Khademi and Dr. Uustal are two physiatrists new to the Shore Rehabilitation Institute team, Jennifer Scheick, M.D., and Talya Kianti Fleming, M.D. Dr. Scheick graduated from Drexel University College of Medicine, and Dr. Fleming is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In addition to providing inpatient care and consulting services, Dr. Scheick and Dr. Fleming both provide outpatient rehabilitative care. "Having Dr. Scheick and Dr. Fleming on board has enhanced our rehabilitative care team as a whole," says Dr. Khademi. "They are able to provide a rehabilitative care plan specific to our patients' needs and the needs of their families."
Shore Rehabilitation Institute holds weekly prosthetic and orthotic clinics. During these clinics, Dr. Uustal and his team evaluate patients for the first time or will assist a patient who is having an issue with their current device. Clinics are held by appointment.
