SOCH Foundation to Host the 5th Annual Great Causeway ChallengeCalling all experienced or novice bicyclists, runners and walkers! If you are looking for an event to test your endurance or simply want to enjoy a morning run, walk or bike ride amid scenic views of southern Ocean County, join us at Southern Ocean County Hospital on Sunday, April 18 at 9:00am.
The Great Causeway Challenge offers participants a choice of race based on their skill level. People can choose to compete in the Biathlon - a 12.5 mile bike race and a 5K run, or a 12.5 mile bike race only, a 5K run or walk, or the Kid's Fun Run.
"We wanted to offer something for everyone and the Kid's Fun Run is a great way to get your kids outside and involved in healthy activities," said Dr. Michael Bleiman, SOCH's Chair of Pediatrics and a strong proponent for preventing childhood obesity. "It is really a great way to spend time together as a family and raise money for hospital programs including our upcoming expansion of the Emergency Department where will be adding a designated pediatric area."
Throughout the Causeway Challenge course, hydration, first aid, and radio communications will be readily available. Complimentary food and refreshments will be provided for all registered participants and an awards ceremony will follow the event. Registration fees vary, depending on the level of participation. For more information about the Great Causeway Challenge or to register call Lisa Klein, director of special events for the SOCH Foundation, at 609-978-3076 or visit online at www.SOCHFoundation.org.
