Third Annual Community Day and 5K Race Slated for May 22 at Ocean Medical Center

Health centered event to kick-off the beach season promises fun for the whole family.

Ocean Medical Center will hold its annual Community Day and 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This free event will be held outdoors at Ocean Medical Center, located at 425 Jack Martin Boulevard in Brick.

The day will start off with a 5K Run/Walk which will take place on the "flat and fast" hospital grounds. The grand prize for the overall male and female and winner will be 42" LCD HDTV. Random raffle prizes for all runners and walkers include a kayak, surfboard, ipod and much more! 5K Run/Walk registration and check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. in the atrium. Additionally, Kids Races for various age categories will start at 9:30 a.m. at the main entrance of the hospital. The Kids Races are for children between the ages of 3 and 12. Registration can be obtained the day of the event at the main entrance of the hospital.

The Community Day portion of the day will provide several fun and healthy activities for the whole family and will include games, an inflatable play area, "kids casts", face painting and tattoos, antique fire truck rides, trackless train, food, and music! Additionally, Doctor Bernard, the friendly mascot and director of Fun and Good Health at K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital, will be making a special appearance. Health information and free screenings will also be available and include blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, stroke, and bone density.
