Caregivers Symposium Offered at Ocean Medical Center on April 5Caring for an ill or aging loved one can present its own set of challenges for any caregiver. The responsibilities of preparing meals, managing medications, cleaning, and juggling doctor appointments can be overwhelming.
The professionals at Ocean Medical Center and Meridian At Home will partner to present "Caring for the Caregiver" on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The program is free and will offer participants insight on how to navigate through this phase of life. The following topics will be addressed, with ample time for questions and answers:
- Hear from gerontologists about what's normal and what's not when it comes to memory loss and the aging process.
- Learn about medication management resources and home care equipment that can help with the daily needs of your loved one.
- Become better educated about palliative care and how it can provide improved quality of life for many illnesses and chronic diseases.
- Explore alternative therapies such as pet therapy, music therapy, and Reiki.
This free program will take place at Ocean Medical Center, 425 Jack Martin Boulevard, Brick, NJ. A light dinner will be served, and registration is required by calling 1-800-DOCTORS.
