Lin Elected to the Fellowship of The College of Physicians of PhiladelphiaOcean Medical Center President, Dean Lin, has been elected to the Fellowship of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia. The Fellowship is comprised of over 1,500 established leaders in the fields of medicine, law, and business.
As the nation's oldest medical society, The College of Physicians was founded in 1787 by a group of physicians, including Dr. Benjamin Rush, a signer of our nation's Declaration of Independence. Its purpose was to create better physicians to better serve the public. The College was a place to gather scientific and medical knowledge from America and abroad, and use this information to educate the public and encourage high standards of professional practice.
"It's an honor to be part of this organization, which has such an incredible history and tradition in health care," says Lin. "Medicine is all about new approaches that will ultimately lead to improved care. There's always room for improvement and new ideas that will ultimately impact the health resources that are available to the community."
Lin joined sixteen others who were inducted into The College of Physicians and signed the registrar that contains signatures of members from more than two centuries, including the founder of America's first medical school, America's first neurologist, a Surgeon General, and many more. Together, they stand to uphold the organization's mission, which is advancing the cause of health while upholding the ideals and heritage of medicine.
