Bayshore Community Hospital Welcomes Simon A. Salerno, M.D.

Bayshore Community Hospital proudly welcomes Simon A. Salerno, M.D. to its family of doctors. Dr. Salerno is primarily located in Wall, N.J. and is board certified in Neurosurgery.

Dr. Salerno received his medical degree as a member of an accelerated six-year program before completing an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurosurgery, serving as chief resident, at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Here Dr. Salerno received an award for Outstanding Student Research. Dr. Salerno completed his medical schooling with fellowship training in spinal surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Salerno also received the North American Spine Society Resident Travel Scholarship in 2003.

Dr. Salerno has conducted an extensive amount of medical research, scientific writing, and presentations, and is the recipient of many honors. Dr. Salerno completed research in both Pharmos Corp.: Dexabinol for Closed Head Injury, and Biomechanical properties of various instrumentation devices and animal models using in vitro methods. In addition, Dr. Salerno presented at the New York State Neurosurgical Society Meeting in May 2003 and the Albany Medical Center, Congress of Neurological Surgeons in October 2003.
