Important Information About Emergency Services at Ocean Medical Center

Entrance and Parking for Emergency Department Relocated Due to Construction

Ocean Medical Center has officially begun its Master Facility Plan and Emergency Department expansion project. Due to the construction zone, the entrance for the emergency department has moved. All hospital services will continue as usual throughout the project.

The entrance to the Emergency Department is now around the corner from its former location. Patients enter through a door marked "EMERGENCY" located in-between the parking garage and the main hospital entrance.

Parking for the Emergency Department has also been relocated, and is now in the lot directly outside the new door. For convenience, free valet service is also available at this point of entry weekdays from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

"A lot of changes are happening on the hospital campus, and we want to ensure that patients requiring emergency services can easily find their way to the new entrance," says Regina Foley, vice president hospital operations and chief nurse executive. "Whether you enter the property from Jack Martin Boulevard or Route 88, there are numerous signs to direct people to the new emergency parking lot and entrance."

People are also able to park in the garage, which is free and adjacent to the emergency lot. All other non-emergency patients and guests should use the Atrium lobby as the main entrance to the medical center.

This new emergency entrance will remain in place throughout the construction project, which is anticipated to finish the early part of 2014. When complete, the new building will house the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Emergency Care Center. Key features of the new emergency department include:
  • Three times larger Emergency Department, from 12,075 sq. ft. to 44,300 sq. ft.
  • 49 private patient bays to improve privacy, safety, and satisfaction
  • Pediatric Emergency Center with eight bays in a private observation area
  • Dedicated Emergency Behavioral Health area for safety and privacy
  • Dedicated Express Care area
  • CT, ultrasound, and two X-ray rooms within the Emergency Department
