Third Annual Community Day at The Jane H. Booker Family Health Center
A day of health, fun and education for the entire communityThe Jane H. Booker Family Health Center, part of Jersey Shore University Medical Center, will host its third annual Community Day on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. The day will feature free health screenings, including cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, HIV testing and lead testing, along with music, food, children's activities and games, raffles and health information. All ages are encouraged to attend. The Jane H. Booker Family Health Center provides a wide range of acute and preventive health services to meet the needs of the community, including:
Skilled practitioners, expertly assisted by a caring nursing staff, diagnose and treat a large variety of general health problems, including diabetes and hypertension. Preventive health screenings and tests are also available throughout the year.
Pediatrics services emphasize routine health screens and immunizations according to the progressive stages in a child's development. The center provides parental guidance and education about childhood's stages.
Gynecological services, including cervical cancer screenings, breast exams and special diagnostic procedures are offered. HealthStart, a routine and high-risk prenatal and postpartum program, is also available.
Special medical care for people with infectious diseases is available in the center's warm, friendly, atmosphere. The health care team is comprised of infectious disease specialists who are fully qualified to address all disease-specific concerns, such as those related to HIV/AIDS.
In addition to all of the above programs and services, the Jane H. Booker Family Health Center is proud to host one of the few hospital-based dental programs in Monmouth County. The center also offers blood pressure monitoring, nutritional counseling, social work consultations and specialist referrals, when necessary.
