Health Care Fundraising in the United States at Conference in Germany

Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations President, David L. Flood will be the opening speaker at the upcoming Health Care Philanthropy Congress in Frankfurt, Germany on March 11, 2013, to represent the United States as a best practice model in health care fundraising.

"Dave was selected by Association of Health Care Philanthropy (AHP) because he has helped to transform best practices in health care fundraising in the United States, said William McGinly, PhD, CAE, president and CEO, AHP. "His energy will bring a dynamic focus and real world application to help German fundraisers identify trends that will work within their facilities."

The Health Care Philanthropy Congress will have more than 200 health care philanthropy leaders from across Germany in attendance. Flood's presentation titled Made in the USA-Applied in Germany will focus on best practices in health care philanthropy and on what model fundraising organizations should look like. He will specifically discuss non-profit development, corporate, individual giving and annual giving, including successful examples Meridian Health has experienced as well as US trends and statistics.

At Meridian Health, Flood is responsible for leadership, strategic direction, and growth of the six medical center foundations, while overseeing comprehensive annual, major gift and capital fundraising programming through a diversified professional and volunteer leadership structure.

Meridian Health's Affiliated Foundations was distinguished as one of 20 health care system foundations throughout the country as a "high performer" by the AHP.

Flood is Chairman-Elect on the board of AHP, a 5,000+ member professional organization managing and providing best practice strategies for philanthropic programs for 2,200 not-for-profit health care providers across the United States and Canada. "We are proud of Dave for receiving this important appointment with the AHP," said John K. Lloyd, FACHE, president of Meridian Health. "Everyday Dave inspires and leads a talented team that follows his example of leadership and commitment to Meridian and to the patients we serve."

Beyond his professional leadership, Flood has assisted numerous organizations in his personal life, recently serving on Boards for Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey, Seton Hall Prep, Farleigh Dickinson University Leadership Institute, Samaritan Center of the Jersey Shore, while advising numerous educational, health care and social service organizations in fundraising and non-profit management.
