National Wound Care Awareness Week Recognized June 2 - 6, 2014

During National Wound Care Awareness Week, the experts from Meridian Health's Centers for Wound Healing remind the public that there are advanced therapies available close to home for patients suffering from chronic, non-healing wounds.

Chronic wounds affect millions of people in the U.S. and the incidence is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and the late effects of radiation therapy. Untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.

Meridian's Centers for Wound Healing blend experience and expertise with the latest advancements and technologies to provide a healing touch in wound care. Personal treatment plans are developed for each patient, and hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy is one of the specialized treatment options offered to promote healing for the most difficult wounds.

With four convenient locations at Bayshore Community Hospital (Holmdel), Jersey Shore University Medical Center (Neptune), Ocean Medical Center (Brick), and Southern Ocean Medical Center (Manahawkin), exceptional wound services are close to home. To learn about Meridian's outpatient wound management programs or to schedule an appointment, call 800-560-9990.
