Ocean Medical Center Was Jumpin' During Orthopedic ProgramOcean Medical Center recently hosted This Joint is Jumpin' for the second year, which equipped people with valuable health education while getting them moving through dance. Ninety men and women participated in the event, with live music, brunch, dancing and an educational panel from two of Ocean's orthopedic surgeons, Joseph Tauro, M.D., and David Rodricks, M.D.
The event also featured a special dance performance from Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Manasquan. From strengthening the lungs and heart, to minimizing the chance of osteoporosis by making bones stronger, participants learned that dancing to a great song is an entertaining and social way to stay healthy while boosting physical confidence.
The program was presented on behalf of the Joint Replacement Program at Ocean Medical Center, which is home to a team of leading experts in the region. Ocean provides access to the latest technology and experts who are skilled in advanced procedures, including minimally invasive knee replacement, partial knee replacement, hip resurfacing and total hip replacement.
The Joint Replacement Program offers a multi-disciplinary team of orthopedic surgeons, pain specialists, and specially trained and experienced registered nurses and therapists who provide both surgical and non-surgical treatment options in joint care. They make every attempt to try non-surgical treatment options before considering surgery. However, when a surgical procedure becomes the right choice, Ocean's physicians have the ability to replace all major joints, including the hips, knees, and shoulders. Many of the physicians are fellowship trained in subspecialties including hand, spine, sports medicine, and joint replacement.
