The Chrysanthemum Ball is the signature fundraising event for Southern Ocean Medical Center, supporting health care services and programs for residents of Ocean County. The event features music by the Kenny I Orchestra, a community gift auction and 50/50 raffle. Southern Ocean Center Genesis Healthcare is the Grand Sponsor for the evening. The event will also feature a special awards ceremony to honor three outstanding leaders in the community.
The James J. Mancini Award for Community Service will be presented to Monsignor Ken Tuzeneu. Msgr. Ken was ordained a priest in 1979 and was elevated to Monsignor in 2008. He has served as pastor at St. Mary's Parish in Barnegat, NJ for the past 22 years. His accomplishments within the community are numerous. These efforts include the establishment of a food kitchen program, the institution of perpetual adoration at St. Mary's, overseeing the construction of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, and helping to build St. Mary of the Pines in Manahawkin.
Msgr. Ken's vision and dedication also resulted in a beautiful new Parish Center and Religious Education Building, which stands as a symbol of faith for the entire community.
The Robert S. Irvin, M.D., Award for Medical Service will be presented to Adam Lazarus, M.D., chairman of the emergency department at Southern Ocean Medical Center. Dr. Lazarus joined the medical center in 2004 as an emergency physician and has steadily taken on more responsibility. When not in NJ, Mrs. Goldman actively volunteers in Boca Raton, FL, caring for hospice patients through Palm Beach County Hospice. Along with husband Peter, who has a personal connection to the Southern Ocean Medical Center Board of Trustees and has served on many committees, the couple takes great pride and commitment to support the medical center's mission and ensure the best health and wellness services are available to the community.
