Meridian Cancer Care Welcomes Kenneth A. Newkirk, M.D., FACS as Medical Director, Head and Neck Oncology Surgery Program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center
Meridian Cancer Care continues to expand with Kenneth Newkirk, M.D., FACS joining the multi-disciplinary team as Medical Director of the Head and Neck Oncology Surgery Program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
For 13 years prior to joining Meridian, Dr. Newkirk was on faculty at MedStar-Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he was most recently associate professor and residency program director of Head and Neck Surgery in the department of Otolaryngology. While at MedStar-Georgetown, he served on both the GME Committee and the Credentialing Committee. In addition to his clinical schedule, Dr. Newkirk has published more than 50 articles, book chapters and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. His most recent research initiatives as principal investigator and co-investigator include The Role of Post-Operative PET/CT Scan in Treatment Planning for Salivary Gland Malignancy, The Role of Multimodality Treatment on Overall Survival for Patients with Metastatic or Recurrent HPV-Positive Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma, The Role of Stereotactic Body Radiation in Head and Neck Cancer and Cancer of the Thyroid and Parathyroid.
Dr. Newkirk is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgeon, a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, a Fellow of the American Head and Neck Society and the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He completed fellowships in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX and Lombardi Cancer Center in Washington, DC., and his internship and residency in General Surgery and Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at MedStar-Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr. Newkirk is a graduate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY.
