Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation services are designed to help patients with heart disease recover faster and return to full and productive lives after a cardiac event.

Cardiac rehabilitation can help individuals who have heart disease such as angina, have had a heart attack, angioplasty, stent or open heart surgery. Meridian's cardiac rehabilitation program combines education and exercise that helps to improve the quality of living, by adopting healthy lifestyle changes. These changes may include a heart healthy diet, increased physical activity, smoking cessation and learning how to manage stress.


  • Comprehensive medical evaluation
  • Prescribed supervised exercise with telemetry monitoring
  • Cardiac risk factor modification
  • Education and counseling including nutritional therapies, weight loss program options, management of lipid abnormalities with diet and medication, blood pressure control, diabetes management and stress management.

Cardiac StepUp Program
Cardiac StepUp is an exercise program designed to improve the function of the heart. It involves exercising while having your blood pressure taken and learning to monitor your heart rate. The program also teaches you about heart disease and how to have a healthy lifestyle.

The program includes:


  • Sessions are scheduled three times a week
  • Exercise in a group setting with a program designed for each person's needs
  • Sessions are supervised by a nurse, an exercise physiologist, and a respiratory therapist


  • Living with angina
  • Cardiac medications
  • Relaxation techniques, coping with stress
  • Nutrition and diet changes for a healthy heart
  • How the heart works and the benefits of exercise

Cardiac "Smart Health" program
Smart Health Is a comprehensive program of diet, exercise & education for those with congestive heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, and many other health concerns. The CardioPulmonary team of registered nurses, exercise physiologists, and respiratory therapists will review medications and design an exercise program to meet individual needs and goals. A group supervised exercise program allows patients to learn exercise parameters and safety tips, while engaging in educational discussions on medications, heart healthy diet tips, and strategies to stay Heart Smart.
