What is Robotic Surgery?

With robotically-assisted surgery, surgeons use a surgical robot as their instrument to perform more complex operations without the need for a large incision.

By combining robotics and state-of-the-art computer technology, surgeons can operate with greater dexterity and control than is possible with traditional surgical approaches. The surgical robot is unique because it provides greater magnification, a three-dimensional view, and instrument arms that allow for movement that mimics a human wrist.

Patient Benefits

With robot-assisted surgery, patients can have major surgery with only a few tiny incisions, benefits include:

  • Faster recovery with a quicker return to daily activities
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Less blood loss
  • Less post-operative pain
  • Less risk of infection
  • Smaller incisions with less scarring for improved cosmetic results
