Concussions

Between four and five million concussions occur annually, with numbers increasing among middle school athletes.

American Academy of Pediatrics has reported that in the last decade, emergency room visits for children ages 8-13 has doubled with concussions rising 200% in teens ages 14-19.

High school football accounts for 47% of all reported sports concussions with 33% of reported concussions occurring during football practice followed by hockey and soccer.

More than 75% of head injuries are mild and do not lose consciousness – that does NOT mean that you should not be evaluated by a physician.
