Having trouble finding health insurance that fits your needs and your budget? Look no further than the Health Insurance Marketplace.

All plans in the Marketplace cover essential health benefits, pre-existing conditions, and more. To find the latest, most accurate, information about the Marketplace visit HealthCare.gov. At this Web site, you can learn how the Marketplace works, who can apply for insurance, how to get insurance, how to lower your costs, and more. When you’re ready to apply and enroll in a health plan, HealthCare.gov is the place for that, too!

No matter where you live, you may be able to buy insurance from private health plans that cover a comprehensive set of benefits, including doctor visits, hospital stays, preventive care, and prescriptions. And plans in the Marketplace must treat you fairly—they can’t deny you coverage because of a pre-existing condition. With a single application, you’ll also find out if you qualify for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or savings you can use right away to lower your health insurance premiums.

Hackensack Meridian Health is participating in the following health insurance exchange products:

  • AmeriHealth Tier One Advantage
  • AmeriHealth Advantage Plan
  • OMNIA through Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield

Through these products, members who use the services of a Hackensack Meridian Health hospital will incur the lowest out of pocket costs.

Marketplace open enrollment period begins November 1, 2016. Enroll by December 15, 2016, for coverage effective January 1, 2017.

Open enrollment ends January 31, 2017. HealthCare.gov is your best source of information about the Marketplace. You can read important information, print checklists, and watch videos to help you apply and enroll.

Upcoming Dates to Know:

  • November 1, 2016: 2017 Open Enrollment starts
  • December 31, 2016: Coverage ends for 2016 Marketplace plans
  • January 1, 2017: 2017 coverage can begin
  • January 31, 2017: 2017 Open Enrollment ends

Staying Covered for 2017

If you bought a private health insurance plan through the Marketplace in 2016, you can renew your current plan or enroll in a different plan for 2017. You can do this between November 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017.

Your 2017 health coverage choices:

You’ll receive important notices about your health coverage. These notices help you understand your choices for 2017, so it’s important to review them carefully.

If you have 2016 Marketplace coverage, one of these will apply to you:

  • The Marketplace will enroll you automatically in your 2016 plan or a similar plan. This means you don’t have to do anything and your 2017 coverage will start on January 1, 2017. If we enroll you automatically, one of the following will apply:
    • You’ll be enrolled with the same premium tax credit and other savings you had in 2016. We’ve been able to do this because you gave us permission to check and use the financial information from your 2016 application.
    • You’ll be enrolled without any premium tax credit or other savings. This may be because we don’t have your permission to use your information again, or because our records show your income has increased.
  • The Marketplace can’t enroll you automatically for 2017. If this applies to you, the Marketplace will send you a notice explaining what to do next. You’ll need to take action to enroll in a plan by December 15, 2016 for your coverage to start January 1, 2017.

You can always pick a different plan for 2017. This is true even if we enroll you in a plan automatically. You can choose any plan available to you in 2017, no matter what kind of plan you had in 2016. Learn more here.

Using Your Marketplace Health Coverage

Once you’re enrolled in a health plan and your coverage has started, you can use it to help cover medical costs for services like:

If your health insurance company doesn’t pay for a specific health care provider or service, you can appeal an insurance company decision.
