Women’s Heart Fund Tenth Annual Spring Luncheon Featured Panel Discussion on Women’s Health

The Women’s Heart Fund hosted the 10th Annual Spring Luncheon on Thursday, June 2 at the Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury, NJ. The fundraising event raised $40,000 and featured a newly introduced interactive panel discussion for guests to learn more about important women’s health topics.

The panel discussion was led by executive leadership from Meridian Health and influential members of the community who addressed women’s health issues, work and family life balance and simple steps we can take to be happier, healthier and more relaxed. Members of the panel discussion included:

  • Dawn Calderon, D.O., chief of cardiology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center
  • Stacy Doumas, M.D., director of education and department of psychiatry at Jersey Shore University Medical Center
  • Regina Foley, R.N., MHA, FACHE, FCPP, chief operating officer, Bayshore Community Hospital (moderated the panel discussion)
  • Denise Johnson-Miller, M.D., medical director, Breast Surgical Oncology Program, Meridian Health
  • Evelyn Minaya, M.D., board certified obstetrician and gynecologist and vice president of Women Caring for Women

The luncheon, chaired by Francine Acquaviva and Alyssa McKenna, also featured a networking hour, an array of assorted hors d'oeuvres, a plated lunch, a 50/50 raffle and an advertising journal.

Over the years, Women’s Heart Fund has raised $600,000 to support Meridian Health’s cardiac services, programs and technology. The money raised not only benefits patients who turn to Meridian’s CardioVascular network for highly advanced, personalized cardiac care, but it has been utilized to support community outreach initiatives that focus on improving the health and wellness of our community. New this year, in addition to raising funds to support cardiac services, Women’s Heart Fund expanded their funding priorities to also include women’s health services and programs at Meridian.
