Vascular Screenings and Education Session Planned for June 19 and 20
Meridian Health, partnered with Care to be Aware Foundation, is offering a unique opportunity pairing education and health screenings to improve vascular health and wellness on June 19 and 20, 2013.
Cardiovascular disease remains the number one cause of death and stroke in America. Vascular disease is often diagnosed only after patients exhibit significant complications from the disease. If the disease can be identified earlier and not after it has created symptoms, individuals can be healthier and more active throughout their lives.
Wednesday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to noon, Jeffrey Hager, D.O., FACOS will present a program discussing cardiovascular disease, risk factors and treatment options. Guests will learn what to expect at their vascular screening, which takes place the next day.
The program will take place at the Ocean County Southern Resource Center, 179 South Main Street, Manahawkin, NJ. A light breakfast will be served. Then, on Thursday, June 20, vascular screenings will be offered at the same location between 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointment times are pre-scheduled, and take only 15 minutes.
The vascular screening includes:
. Carotid Artery Ultrasound
. Peak Systolic Velocity (PSV)
. Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)
. Blood Pressure in both arms
. Body Mass Index
. Heart Rhythm EKG and Pulse
. Educational Materials
. Color Reports
. Consultation with Registered Nurse
