Each May, towns in Monmouth and Ocean counties join Meridian Health's Paint the Town Pink effort to raise awareness of the importance of annual mammography. In 2014, 35 towns across the two counties "went pink" to remind women to get their annual mammograms, which is the best defense against breast cancer.
Support from community volunteers are what makes Paint the Town Pink so successful. From being a town chair and leading the charge, to decorating a business or school pink during the month of May, there are many ways to get involved in Paint the Town Pink. Community members are encouraged to attend a meeting on January 14 or 22 to simply learn more about the event, or to sign up as a committee member or chair.
