Bayshore Community Hospital Earns Breast Imaging Center of Excellence Designation by American College of Radiology (ACR)
The Women's Center at Bayshore Community Hospital is proud to announce that it has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy), and breast MRI (including MRI-guided biopsy).
“The entire team worked diligently to receive this designation,” says Bokran Won M.D., fellowship-trained breast imager, board certified radiologist, and medical director of the Women’s Center at Bayshore Community Hospital and Riverview Medical Center. “This designation highlights the strength and tireless commitment of our physicians and team members. We are committed to excellence and are passionate about giving our patients the highest quality of care."
ACR accreditation is recognized as the gold standard in medical imaging. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that Bayshore has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
Together the Women’s Center at Bayshore and Riverview Medical Center provide high quality and comprehensive breast care to women in region. Under the guidance of the same medical director and leadership team, our Center provides access to total breast care to address preventive health, diagnosis, treatment, and support for women of all ages. Services include digital mammography with CAD, tomosynthesis (3D mammography), stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided biopsy), breast MRI (including MRI-guided biopsy), and bone densitometry, plus genetic testing, breast health education, and support groups. For patients’ convenience, evening and weekend hours are available for screening mammograms and bone density testing.
